Principal Process Engineer (Thermal Power Plant Specialist)

Job Profile
A Principal Process Engineer is an experienced engineer with specific specialism’s within this discipline that will be used to win work and contribute significantly to successful projects. The Thermal Power Plant Specialist will have particular skills and qualities relating to work in Fossil and Renewable Fuel and Energy from Waste Plants and be equipped to carry out the following key tasks and responsibilities
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
•To provide technical leadership for Thermal Power Plant technology, developing the process engineering capability, influencing other technical specialists and guiding Business Development, Project and Proposals Managers
•To act as Lead Process Engineer in winning work and delivering selected projects, with responsibility for planning and managing resources, carrying out process design work and supervising the work of others.
•To ensure that health, safety, environmental and technology requirements are identified and taken into account
•To analyse key Boiler and Power Train equipment options
•To optimise auxiliary plant loads to meet efficiency targets
•To optimise utility systems and the steam-water cycle to meet specific project requirements
•To take a lead role in liaising with other disciplines so project requirements are understood and met
•To assist management in department administration.
•To recommend ways to improve business performance
•To support colleagues in their development, by providing training and mentoring
Person Specification
•Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline
•Chartered Engineer, MIChemE or FIChemE
•Minimum of 10 yrs experience in the field of Process Design, of which at least 5 shall be in power technology projects, with awareness of the whole project life-cycle.
•Should have familiarity with CCGT plants.
•Understanding of customers’ strategic requirements
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•Should have significant experience with appropriate technical software
