Construction Manager –Biomass Power Plant
The Role
The Construction Manager will be part of the site team reporting to the project manager. The CM will manage and control power plant construction activities performed by the contractors on behalf of the owner.
The candidate will possess a formal engineering qualification (preferably degree) in an appropriate engineering discipline and will have extensive experience of working on project construction sites, within the power generation sector. Candidates with Biomass or Energy from waste backgrounds and evidence of success in multi-contract environments/EPCM will be preferred.
Previous experience in a contracting organisation or within a consultancy is equally desirable.
The CM will oversee the contractors’ construction progress against specification and programme through the phases of installation, putting into service, acceptance testing up to plant takeover. Key contribution areas will include: -
•Reviewing the contractors’ activity schedules and progress.
•Claims control and monitoring.
•Conducting and directing daily surveillance and inspection of works on-site.
•Ensuring that work is being executed in accordance with the construction drawings, project specifications and national and international codes & standards.
•Health, Safety and Environmental issues. – CDM compliance and implementation of “zero harm” policy.
•Reviewing the project specifications and reporting any deviations from the scope of supply.
•Attending punchlist and non-conformance inspections
•Providing assistance to the client`s staff as and when required
•Liaison with design teams
Candidates must be flexible and willing to work at specified project locations in UK, other parts of Europe or Africa.
